EduCare brings ACE Program to CALPAL Youth Leadership Academy

250 Youth. 30 Communities. 15 Law Enforcement Chapters. 3 Days. 1 Goal.

This year, for the first time, EduCare partnered with Enforcement Ed and the California Police Activities League (CALPAL) for the 19th Annual CALPAL Youth Leadership Conference.

CALPAL organizes one of the largest juvenile crime prevention programs in California, with over 100 member chapters located throughout the state. Each year, CALPAL partners with non-profit, corporate and community organizations to provide a unique opportunity for PAL Youth from different communities to come together and participate in The Youth Leadership Academy (YLA) - a three-day experiential leadership conference focused on engaging, challenging, and empowering our young people to rise to new levels of participation in their respective PAL programs, schools and communities.

Aligned with our mission of inspiring and empowering young people to become responsible citizens, compassionate leaders, and to live their dreams, the YLA emerged as a natural fit for EduCare's Achievement & Commitment to Excellence (ACE) and After School Programs.

Always keep pushing. Step out of your comfort zone. Don’t let society choose who you are. That’s what I learned in ACE.

In the ACE Program leadership trainings at CALPAL YLA 2017, students connected with their peers, local law enforcement, and other positive role models in a safe, structured environment away from their everyday routines. Over the course of the statewide conference, students and adults built meaningful relationships and developed greater trust, self-esteem, and self-motivation. Youth leaders-in-training also worked on strengthening their inherent growth mindsets and developing the skills necessary for making healthy choices and achieving life-long success.

ACE taught me that you have to overcome your fears, no matter what. Expand your comfort zone, take positive risks, love yourself, meet new people, and make your own path for success.

For me, the most valuable part of this workshop was learning how to manifest positive thoughts and strengthen my communications skills.
