The National Center for Education Statistics reports that in 2008, the dropout rate of students living in low-income families was about 4.5 imes greater than the rate of children from higher-income families. Two-thirds of the income-based achievement gap is attributed to summer learning loss. By the end of the 6th grade, students who have experienced summer learning loss over the years are at an average of 2 years behind their peers.
For the past 27 years, EduCare has created learning environments where young people have felt safe, valued, inspired and empowered. EduCare’s After School program participants are graduating at a 21-30% higher rate than non-participants.
We thank you for this is made possible with the support of caring individuals like yourself. We are proud to announce that we are launching our “Summer of Caring Fundraising Campaign” this month to overcome academic learning loss. This campaign will allow us to provide invaluable social, emotional, and academic support for LA’s youth.
Over the next month, our students will be telling their stories and the impact that EduCare programming has had on their lives. A gift to our Summer of Caring Campaign allows us to continue to provide crucial programs including Summer Bridge classes, Homework Labs, Fitness classes, ACE Student Success Workshops and more. Your donations will enable EduCare to provide free, quality heart-centered programs and activities over the summer and throughout the year to youth that need us the most.
