Volunteer Opportunities at EduCare
Volunteering is highly valued at EduCare. Volunteering just one or two hours a week can make a tremendous difference in the life of a student. Our volunteers serve as role models for our students, offering diversity of background, interests, gifts and talents. Through one-on-one or group support and encouragement, volunteers promote social interaction and develop positive relationships among students and their peers. We are deeply committed to making your experience with EduCare a rewarding one.
Our volunteer opportunities include:
Training Support
Assist at our ACE Workshops for large groups of students. These workshops are both half-day and full-day events and occur in school gyms, on college campuses, or recreation centers. Your role is to model a positive attitude, coach and encourage students to fully participate, and provide logistical support. In addition to making a difference, you will have a lot of fun!
After-School Program Support
EduCare leads the after-school programs in 5 LAUSD high schools. Volunteers are needed as academic tutors, youth mentors, drivers, and to give general assistance to each school's Site Coordinator. Hours are generally between 3-6 pm on high school campuses. Our campuses that need volunteers are: Bell High School, Jordan High School, Jordan New Tech High School, Lincoln High School, and San Fernando High School.
Administrative Support
Work with our friendly office staff in Thousand Oaks, CA to provide administrative support for EduCare's programs and activities. We are flexible, so you can set your own hours! Utilize your office skills by doing data entry (Microsoft Office Word and Excel), filing, copying, assembling packets, mailing, packing supplies, and helping with general office organization.
Public Relations & Marketing
EduCare is seeking creative volunteers to design flyers and brochures, to help reach out to the greater community. This could involve developing our online marketing strategy using Constant Contact, writing promotional material, and developing a PR plan.
Volunteers may be subject to the following screening requirements: Tuberculosis (TB) test, FBI and Department of Justice background check and providing official identification (driver's license, social security card, & photo I.D.)
