30 years of heart-centered education
Our history
In 1987, Stu Semigran, EduCare President and Co-Founder, piloted the ACE (Achievement and Commitment to Excellence) Program in a Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) middle school.
The success and impact of ACE led to its implementation nationwide. We have grown from a small youth development program into an innovative, forward-thinking non-profit organization. From 1995-2000, EduCare was a lead training agency for the LEARN Annenberg School Reform. Since 2009, we have managed Afterschool Programs throughout Los Angeles County. Today our Direct Student Services impact over 30,000 students annually through our After School Programs at 19 middle and high schools and ACE at over 50 schools. Our Heartset® Education Professional Development Programs annually train thousands of teachers and parents. Since 1990, EduCare has served over 230,000 students and provided professional development to 36,000 teachers and parents across 425 schools locally and nationally.
For 30 years, we have stayed true to our moral compass of bringing love forward as the foundation of education. Heartset® Education is EduCare’s signature approach to social-emotional learning (SEL).
Every child, regardless of background, deserves opportunities. Each child deserves to be loved. EduCare has demonstrated that a heart-centered approach to education works.
