The ACE Program

is the forerunner of many of today’s educational movements, such as Character Education, Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), and Trauma-Informed Teaching.

The ACE Program focuses on four essential SEL components:

Character Development: Confidence building, positive decision making and constructive choices;

Personal Management: Personal responsibility and accountability;

Emotional Intelligence: Managing anger, fear, rejection and peer pressure;

Interpersonal Skills: Communication, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and team building.

“I have been around high quality afterschool and youth development work for over 25 years. What I witnessed while visiting the ACE Program was some of the most transformational and powerful moments I have ever seen.”

— Michael R. Funk, CA Department of Education’s Expanded Learning Division Director

The ACE Program

ACE effectively addresses barriers to learning by teaching students attitudes and behaviors that support success. The ACE workshop for middle and high school students is followed by monthly workshops.

ACE Initiative

The ACE Initiative (AI) creates a supportive learning environment with opportunities for students to learn and thrive. AI incorporates the keys of successful SEL in a comprehensive year-round program of integrated student services, professional development and parent engagement.

AI creates a healthy, positive school culture that provides students, parents, and educators with the support, programming and resources to create school and home environments defined by caring, connectivity, and collaboration. Additional components include case management, one-on-one support and college access support.
